After years of social networking sites costing more man hours than smoking breaks and extended Monday visits to the lav, you'd be surprised to hear that the Government actually wants its workers to spend more time on Twitter. Yes, a rather excessive 20-page guide to tweeting in the workplace has been published offering advice for workers who want to air their feelings about the issues of the day, using the ultra-successful micro-blogging phenomenon. The report follows the success of The Royal Family and 10 Downing Street on Twitter. Even the Prime Minister's wife Sarah Brown has attracted a whopping 467,000 followers to her feed. The "Template Twitter Strategy for Government Departments" advises that between two and ten tweets per day are sufficient, but users shouldn't be following those who aren't following them. That would be time wasting of course.
